first_img Twitter The B-52’s 40th Anniversary Tour includes a handful of festival dates in the U.S. and Europe, along with global headline dates. Following their first three fest performances in the U.S. in May, the group jumps over to Europe for June and July.On Aug. 1, they will play in Costa Mesa, Calif., with headline show across North America, including a Sept. 7 date in their home state of Georgia. While a press release says more dates can be “expected to be added in the future,” for now they will close out on Sept. 24 at Summerstage in N.Y.C.’s Central Park.”Who knew that when we played our first house dance party in Athens, Georgia in 1976 that we would be still be rocking the house in 2019!” vocalist Kate Pierson said in a press release.”Woo-hoo! Europe and then all over North America! Dust off those go-go boots and shine your dancing shoes because the B-52s are coming!” frontman Fred Schneider added.Schneider, Pierson, Cindy Wilson, Keith Strickland and the late Ricky Wilson formed The B-52’s in 1976 in Athens, Ga. and released their self-titled debut album in 1979.
