Trump has announced his latest concern, the deregulation of American toilets. He claims that Americans are flushing their toilets too often, and this in turn results in a shortage of water for washing your hands. He has ignored serious infrastructure repairs and updates in many areas of the country. The concern of seepage from underground ancient and rotting pipes, which might affect drinking water, is not there. He has denied climate change, even if there is abundant scientific proof to the contrary.Melting glaciers causing rising oceans, rampant wildfires and hurricanes resulting in human losses and hundreds of homes are just phenomena. He refuses to acknowledge the need for gun regulation, neither in the vetting process nor in being able to purchase military-type automatic rifles. The violence continues too frequently, most recently at a U.S. Naval base in Florida by a Saudi nationalist. The president offers “thoughts and prayers” until the next mass shooting. The situation at the southern border is a monumental disgrace where asylum seekers are being treated like animals, in some cases worse than animals. Another young man died last week. But never fear, now Jared Kushner is in charge. Now that the national debt has reached $21 trillion and still rising. We the people as law abiding citizens must prove our loyalty by not flushing our toilets so often.Jane ReisengerSchenectadyMust do better than tributes to racismWhile driving around Schenectady I saw a Confederate battle flag hanging on a porch. In response to this provocation, I’d like to praise the New York-based artist Kehinde Wiley and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) for supporting and building the statue “Rumors of War.”This statue was recently on view in New York City and now is prominently displayed at the VMFA near, but not on, Richmond, Virginia’s, famous Monument Avenue. I spent my formative years near Richmond, where I learned that Monument Avenue was created to “honor heroes of the Confederacy.” As I learned about the Confederacy, it became clear that “Monument Avenue” is simply a monument to a beastly culture and the men who killed tens of thousands of American troops to preserve a society dependent upon the practices of kidnapping, owning people, separating families, selling children, rape and torture, to name just a few. Noting this, I do believe “Rumors of War” would be a bit better if it was forged from the melted statues of the racist traitors currently standing along Monument Avenue in Richmond. And to the New Yorkers sporting the Confederate battle flag on porches, vehicles and flag poles, I share Wiley’s response to the statues of traitors, murderers, and racists along Monument Avenue, “We can do better.”Chuck PiotrowskiNiskayunaEllen audience a bit too giddy over giftsI sat down with a cup of coffee the other day and settled in to watch the 5 p.m. local news on Channel 6. I turned on the TV, a bit early, around 4:50 p.m. Well the Ellen DeGeneres show was on with Ellen and some model dancing around telling the studio screaming, jumping women in the audience that they all were going to get free this and free that. What I find so amazing is that the women in the audience behaved like little children on Christmas morning getting presents from their parents. My question is why would they behave and belittle themselves for a free toaster or whatever. Have they no pride? There, that being said, let the flogging begin.Rick SplawnikAmsterdamMore from The Daily Gazette:EDITORIAL: Thruway tax unfair to working motoristsEDITORIAL: Find a way to get family members into nursing homesGov. The cadet basketball national team of B&H is playing the final match of the European Championships against the host Lithuania tonight, starting from 8:15 p.m.The young BH basketball players, who have overpowered the national teams of Serbia, Italy, France, Croatia, Germany and Spain during the Eurobasket, have a secured silver medal. However, the players selected by the amazing coach Josip Pandza will certainly not satisfy themselves with the second place, and they will run out on the parquet of the hall in Kaunas tonight for the greatest medal and their place in the history of European basketball. There are no favourites against B&H at the European Championships. Our national team players have proven it several times. As the host, Lithuania is in slight advantage, but also under greater pressure. Both national teams have lost two matches at the Championships. B&H is entering tonight’s match with four consecutive victories, while the Lithuanians have two defeats and two victories from the past four matches.Just like last night, a lot will depend on Sani Campara who is having control over the BH offensive. In its team B&H also has the second shooter of the Championships Dzenan Musa, who scores an average of 22.1 points per match.Musa is the first assistant of the tournament and the fifth basketball player when it comes to rebounds. If he is at his best tonight, the Lithuanian defense will be in great problems.(Source: klix.ba)
Asked at a press conference If he thinks about a replacement if the Uruguayan striker leaves the PSG, Tuchel said he likes the group he has. “We don’t want to lose any player, but it can happen, it’s the reality”, he said before adding that we have to wait and that “maybe nothing will happen”, but “if things change”, they should adapt. The coach confirmed that Cavani will not play this Wednesday in the league game against Reims, nor did he play the two games last week, officially because of pubic discomfort. “It is not an easy situation for him, I can understand him and I am glad that he remains positive, professional. If there is an injured person, we have an extraordinary substitute.”, he pointed. Tuchel acknowledged that the situation may affect each other’s confidence and He insisted that for this situation to be clarified we will have to wait a few days and that the Uruguayan must fight to recover his place and the rhythm after the injury. The club of the French capital rejected an offer of 10 million euros that Atlético de Madrid made for Cavani, which has a contract with the PSG until June. The top scorer in the history of the club has expressed his willingness to leave now, among other reasons because he believes that Tuchel does not consider him enough. The coach of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Thomas Tuchel, said Tuesday that he does not want Edinson Cavani to leave, but did not rule out his departure, aware of his will to leave and the offers made by him Atlético de Madrid.
